Problem
The stove displays a Low Temperature alert or “Check Hopper and Burn Pot” message.
Customers may also describe this issue as:
- Low temp alarm
- Fire went out
- Stove shut down
- Fire died
- Stove stopped feeding pellets
- Check hopper message
- Check burn pot message
The fire may become weak, reduce to embers, or extinguish completely.
Symptoms
One or more of the following may occur:
- Low Temperature message displayed
- Check Hopper and Burn Pot message displayed
- Fire dies out
- Stove shuts down unexpectedly
- Pellets stop feeding
- Burn pot empties during operation
- Fire reduces to embers
Clear the Alert
To clear the alarm:
- Press and hold the On/Off button at the upper left of the control panel.
- Hold for approximately 5 seconds.
- Allow the stove to reset.

Possible Cause
The Low Temperature Alarm occurs when the stove loses communication with the Proof of Fire switch (POF).
This usually means:
- Fire became too small
- Fire reduced to embers
- Fire extinguished
The most common cause is insufficient pellet feed.
Common Feed Problems
Hopper Running Low
Low pellet level may reduce fuel delivery.
Check:
- Hopper level
- Pellet flow
- Pellet movement toward auger
Hopper Lid Left Open
The hopper lid safety switch may stop pellet feeding if the lid remains open.
Verify:
- Hopper lid fully closes
- Lid switch engages properly
Pellet Bridging
Pellet bridging occurs when pellets stop flowing properly toward the auger.
This commonly happens when pellet density near the auger becomes too low.
Symptoms:
- Hopper appears full
- Auger starves for pellets
- Fire gradually weakens
Break up pellet buildup and verify pellet flow.
Verify Ash Cleaning Settings
Excessive ash cleaning duration may reduce the fire excessively.
To inspect settings:
- Press and hold the Enter button (Left Arrow) until Set Data appears.
- Go to:
#4 – Set Ash Cleaning
OR
#7 – Auto Clean (depending on software version)
- Verify:
Smart Ash = OFF
Maximum duration:
20 seconds or less
Recommended Ash Cleaning Settings
| Heat Level | Time Span | Duration | Smart Ash |
|---|---|---|---|
| H01 | 30 min | 10 sec | OFF |
| H02 | 30 min | 12 sec | OFF |
| H03 | 30 min | 15 sec | OFF |
| H04 | 30 min | 20 sec | OFF |
| H05 | 30 min | 20 sec | OFF |
Vacuum Switch Issues
If the stove:
- Ignites normally
- Enters heating mode
- Then stops feeding pellets
The issue may be related to the vacuum switch.
This behavior is a common indicator of pressure switch problems.

Rare Cause – Electrical Interference (EMF)
In rare cases, appliances inside the home may create electromagnetic interference (EMF) affecting auger operation.
Examples may include:
- Tankless water heaters
- High-interference electrical devices
Possible solutions:
- Shielding
- Line conditioner installation

Important Notes
The Low Temperature Alarm usually indicates fuel delivery loss, not a failed igniter.
Always verify:
- Pellet supply
- Hopper condition
- Feed system
- Vacuum switch operation
- Ash cleaning settings
before replacing components.
Escalate To Support If
Contact support if:
- Pellet feed appears normal but fire still dies
- Vacuum switch diagnosis is unclear
- Hopper switch tests good but feed stops
- Low temp alarms continue repeatedly
- Electrical interference is suspected
