Low Temperature Alert: (check hopper and burn pot message)

Symptoms: Fire died and/or stove displays a Low Temperature message.

Resolution: You can clear the alert code by holding down the On/Off button at the top left of the panel, for 5 seconds.

Cause:

When the low temp alarm occurs, it means that the computer has lost communication to the proof of fire switch (POF).  

This usually happens because the fire got too small or went out to embers.  

A handful of reasons can account for this happening, but the most common one is feeder problems. (such as the auger stopping if the hopper lid is left open too long, or if the hopper got too low on pellets)

It could also be related to settings such as the feed rates set too low or automatic ash cleaning times set too high, but the most common problem is "bridging" of the pellets, where the density of the hopper at the bottom of the auger gets too low to keep up with the demands of the fire.

To check the ash cleaning settings: press and hold the Enter button (left arrow) until the set data menu appears.  Then scroll down to #4 Set Ash Cleaning (or #7 Auto Clean on the other software panels) and press Enter.  Make sure smart ash cleaning is off, and that the duration is no more than 20 seconds.

Here are some recommended ash cleaning cycle settings:

Another common problem is the sensitivity of the vacuum switch.

If the vacuum switch is not engaging, the stove will ignite successfully, and then stop feeding as soon as it goes into heating mode.   (It may run longer, but this is a clear indication of a pressure switch issue)

In rare cases, there could be an appliance (such as some tankless water heaters) in the home that generates an EMF (electro-magnetic field) that interrupts the signal to the auger.  

In these cases, you may need to add shielding, and/or put a line conditioner in the home.
