Question: Can I use a pellet stove to replace a wood stove? Can existing wood stove piping be reused for pellet stove installation?
Answer: Yes. Many customers have replaced their wood stove with a pellet stove. In order to reuse your existing stove pipe, you will most likely need a wood stove pipe chimney adapter, (https://www.comfortbilt.net/products/copy-of-pipe-reducer/?sku=Reduce1-8-3-1) and then enough 3” pellet vent piping to connect it to the back of the stove. (additional Clean out Tee and/or elbows may be needed depending on your installation)
Just make sure that your piping flue extends unbroken from the stove's exhaust port all the way to an exterior exhaust termination.
If you are unsure about aspects of your installation, you can submit your question along with pictures and diagrams to our ticket submission system, and we will do our best to advise you.
